The main objective of the RDI of RDIPP is to provide the compulsory framework for the development of sustainable and organic farming systems, by preserving biodiversity, promoting plant protection methods and techniques with minimal impact on the environment and good management of biological resources.
Research-Development Institute for Plant Protection (RDIPP) is an institution of national interest. It is the only institute of research-development national system which carry out research of excellence in plant protection (CAEN code 7219 - research and development on other natural sciences and engineering), having highly specialized research staff and modern technical equipment and more than 20 patents on biological agents for plant protection and nutrition.
Research –development activities of RDIPP include: developing new technologies for increasing the safety of food chains which target methods and means of protection against occurrence of biological noxious agents, in order to achieve the objectives of a sustainable development in agriculture and organic farming systems; application of international and national strategies regarding research in plant protection field; techniques development and optimization for a rapid diagnosis of noxious agents; studies and ecotoxicology research required for approval of plant protection products, according to the Community acquis.
Starting with 2011, RDIPP has coordinated projects within national programs: Modernisation of Information Systems and Agricultural Knowledge, NUCLEU Program, SECTORIAL Program, PARTNERSHIPS in priority areas Program, CAPACITATI Program. RDIPP participated in several projects under international Research-Development-Inovations programs: COST FA1105, COST ES1406, COST FP 1401, COST FA0807, COST TD1209, RER/5018, RER/5020.
