Aedit (http://www.aedit.it/) is a spin-off company of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy), founded in 2001, whose core business is focussed on the development of ICT tools applied to support agro-environmental monitoring networks, manage database related to crop protection, developing DSS for farmers or local authority, implementation of geographical information system and web-based database to manage monitoring networks in agricultural and environmental sectors.
R&D activities pursue different goals, namely, to advance data management systems incorporating low-cost, widely available mobile computing technologies, and to integrate territorial monitoring systems and tools in support of land use planning. These services emphasize the capability to share data records easily between several workers within the farm or stakeholders outside the farm, as well as the advice on long-term management and processing of farmer’s data. Aedit develops territorial information systems to implement the right crop protection strategy, optimize sagacious water management and innovate logistics in agroforestry chain networks.
The development of smart farming approach stresses the use of GIS and ICT in the farm management cycle, allowing Aedit to conceive dynamic models for the involvement of farmers, advisors, and local authorities, as well as application packages (application software) for adequate data management in the organizational control of farming processes.
Aedit has collaborated with regional, national, and European research institutions in funded projects developing software tools.
