Our research areas are focused mainly on seed-borne bacterial pathogens of vegetables. We have experience on molecular detection of bacterial diseases, screening of cultivars for possible plant disease resistance and control of seed-borne bacterial pathogens using seed treatments. Also we have experience on detection of phytoplasmal diseases.
Adnan Menderes University was established in 1992 and located in the city of Aydin, Turkey. Total number of the enrolled students is around 56000 and the number of academic personnel is 1773. The University has 18 faculties and 29 research and development centers. Adnan Menderes University, Faculty of Agriculture has 12 departments, 114 academic personnel and about 1100 students and located at south campus, in Çakmar village of Aydin.
Aydin is a city where intense agriculture is practiced. Climate conditions are subtropical and almost all vegetables can be grown. In the mountains of Aydin chestnut trees can be grown and the main chestnut producer of Turkey. Other crops that mainly produced in Aydin are fig and olives. As vegetables melon, watermelon, tomato and strawberry are other important crops.
